today i realised just how many common spelling mistakes people think are actual words.
for example:
alright. alright is not a word. it is in fact two words. all right.
the same goes for:
aswell, as well
alot, a lot
infact and in fact
i don't claim to be a spelling or grammatical genius but when i see mistakes like this it makes me cringe a little.
what are some other ones you have found or other mistake that grind your gears?
yea i sometimes do these when Im texting, spelling really doesn't upset me that much, just as long as i can read it
ReplyDeletesince i am no native english speaker i often do such mistakes :3
ReplyDeletenever heard of aswell, but i ALWAYS see alot....
ReplyDeleteMy pet peeve is 'it's' used in a possessive sense. It's (it is) 'its' unless it's (it is).
ReplyDeleteWhat? I was saying "alright" all these years and it's not even right?
ReplyDeletealright is probably the one that i didnt relize i spelt wrong
ReplyDeleteGuilty! Using "aswell" all the time. Thanks for reminding me.
ReplyDeleteI tend to get really picky about grammar too. Oh well, that's the language! Great post!
ReplyDeleteI don't really care either way!
